My youngest said it best-“Man, mom. You have a LOT of makeup!” Yes, yes I do. I enjoy makeup. I love buying it. I love wearing it. I love shopping for it. I love experimenting for it.
Being on Winter Break, I decided to thin out my collection a bit. You know, to make room for new stuff lol. As I was going through my stash and deciding what to keep, what to chuck, what’s old, what I haven’t used in a while…I came across my 12 favorite products that I purchased in 2019 and would recommend to anyone!
In no particular order because making me pick my favorite makeup product would be like making me pick my favorite book…or show on Netflix…or child…(BTW-the links in this post are sponsored which means I get a small commission if you click on the link and/or buy the product. All of the views are my own! And I bought allllll of these products with my hard earned teaching cash.)
What I love about this lipstick:
It legit changes to the perfect pink/peachy color for your lips. Say what???? It looks yellow, but it goes on pink and is so flattering cuz of I guess it’s color changing technology. I swear. Technology is amazing.
What I don’t love about this lipstick:
The price. It’s $25 for a full size. I was able to snag one in a Birchbox a few months ago, but I can tell you when the mini size runs out, I’m buying the full size!
In case you’re wondering…I wear shade 2C3 Fresco. 🙂
What I love about this foundation:
Pretty much EVERYTHING. If you go into Macys, the Estee Lauder peeps have this scanner thing that they put on your face and you can get the EXACT shade match. Say what!!!???
And this ish stays put. I mean I could do a workout, full day of teaching, clean the house, make dinner, and that stuff is still on.
What I don’t like about this foundation:
It can be drying. Especially in the winter months. I have put this bad boy away until the weather is a bit warmer and my skin isn’t a dry, flaky mess.
Florence by Mills Skin Tint
Have you seen Stranger Things? If yes, do you remember Eleven from that show? (And if no, why haven’t you watched it???) Eleven is also known as Millie Bobby Brown and she’s created this line-Florence by Mills.
This beauty line boasts clean ingredients. And while this line is geared more towards an *ahem* younger crowd, this 40 something loves the skin tint!
What I love about the skin tint:
The price. For $18 you really can’t go wrong. Plus it has great staying power and is perfect for weekends when you don’t necessarily want to spackle on the foundation, but you still wanna look cute.
It also comes in 20 different shades (even darker shades which can be hard to find sometimes-sorry darker skinned gals. That sucks there’s not more face makeup out there for you ladies!) so there is definitely one for you.
What I don’t like about this skin tint:
The smell is kinda off. But I found it quickly went away. It didn’t get the best reviews on ulta.com and I honestly don’t know why.
Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer
What I love about this bronzer:
First of all, the price. It’s under $15 and I honestly love it better than the more pricey Benefit Hoola bronzer. No disrespect to Benefit, but this butter bronzer lives up to it’s name-it glides on like butter.
Which leads me to my second thing I love about this bronzer…SO DARN BLENDABLE. Even my four-year-old could contour with this bad boy.
What I don’t like about this bronzer:
Nada. It’s a winner in my book.
Rimmel’s Exaggerate Lipliner in Eastend Snob
Have you every heard of Charlotte Tillbury? Well, if you haven’t, she’s got an ICONIC lipstick called Pillow Talk. The internet says that it flatters ANY skin tone. Intrigued??? It costs $34. Now I’m all for splurging but even I don’t think I’d fork over $34 for a lipstick. Unless this lipstick also made me look a decade younger than maybe, just maybe.
Luckily for pinterest, I was able to find a dupe for Pillow Talk. And for under $7 at Walgreens, Rimmel has you covered with this lip liner.
What I like about this lipliner:
The color and staying power is aweeeeesome! You don’t need a lipstick over the top and there’s no feathering at all. And the color is super flattering on this ultra white girl.
What I don’t like about this lipliner:
It can break off a bit. But it’s such a good price (you can usually find coupons at Walgreens!!!) that I don’t mind that.
Thrive Causemetic’s Liquid Lash Extension
Hands down THEEEEEE BEEEEESSSST MASCARA EVER. Like ever ever. It does exactly what it says! It gives you extension like lashes without extensions. Obvi getting lash extensions will look a little more dramatic than this mascara, but it’s a pretty darn close second.
What I love about this mascara:
Gives you long lashes.
Stays on until you take it off.
What I don’t like about this mascara:
You can only order it online…BUT select Ulta stores are now stocking it. But trust me, it’s worth the wait of a few days of shipping. Trust me.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade
Do you want uh-mazing brows? I mean, who doesn’t? Some of the brows that my high schoolers come in with these days either make me go WOW or uhhhhhhh…and at first, this stuff scared me a little bit because I was afraid I’d get uhhhhhhh brows.
But honestly, this stuff is pretty much fool proof.
What I like about the Dip Brow Pomade:
A little goes a looooong way. Like I think that my brows will turn gray before I run out of this stuff.
It stays on. Like all day.
Doesn’t smudge so you don’t get crazy brow.
What I don’t like about the Dip Brow Pomade:
It takes a special brush to put them on (an angled brush and a spoolie) but I was able to snag one for free from Ulta during the holidays as a part of a set.
It takes some practice so don’t think you’re gonna try this stuff for the first time and run out of the door.
Anastasia Dip Brow Gel
Okay I love this product as much as the Dip Brow Pomade. I use this to define my brows on days when I may be in a rush or I don’t want like KA-POW brows.
What I love about the Dip Brow Gel:
It’s portable. I used this stuff when we went to Disney and it easily traveled in my makeup bag.
So easy to use. Don’t want to mess with the Brow Pomade? Well, this one’s definitely for you!
And I’ve tried the lower priced brands of brow gel before and let me tell you, it doesn’t hold a candle to this stuff. It’s worth the extra couple of bucks to get a product that does exactly what you want it to.
What I don’t like about the Dip Brow Gel:
Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
Want to buy a mascara that costs as much as a Starbucks coffee that is worth every penny? Look no further!!!
What I like about this mascara:
It gives you amazing lashes. Just like the Thrive Causemetics mascara that I wrote about above, this mascara delivers.
It gives you long lashes. Like long long lashes.
The price. It’s $4.99. Yup. Hands down the best drugstore mascara on the market.
What I don’t like about this mascara:
Sometimes it’s hard to find cuz it’s sooooo darn amazing. So I usually buy two tubes at a time.
Beautaniq Beauty Butter Lip and Cheek Balm
Do you want flushed cheeks? Do you want to wear blush but to not look like you’re wearing blush? Well, here ya go. I got this gem in a Birchbox and I how I survived without it, I truly don’t know!
What I love about the balm:
You don’t need to use very much. Like I think this pot will last me the rest of the decade lol.
It gives you the I just worked out flushed look. It’s perfect for the no makeup makeup look.
You can also use it on your lips, but I haven’t tried that yet.
The price is super reasonable. On amazon, it’s under $10.
What I don’t like about the balm:
This is the only color it comes in…but it seems to be pretty universal so there ya go.
Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Pink Glow
So some highlighters I look too metallicy or like I”m a middle aged woman trying to look younger than she is (which I am and I do try to look younger than my 40s lol). But this one. Wow. That’s all I got to say.
What I like about this highlighter:
It shimmers. It shines. But it blends well so you don’t look like you’re wearing obvious highlighter if that makes sens.
This also works really well as a shimmery eye shadow.
You can use it to highlight your face or the inner corner of your eye.
It’s super flattering.
What I don’t like about this hightler:
It’s $48.00. Yup. That’s steep, like most Bobbi Brown products.
HOWEVER. I purchased it as a part of this set. If you like Bobbi Brown, this set is a must. And for $99, it’s a great deal!!!
Bobbi Brown The Essential Multicolor Eye Shadow Palette
Need a great neutral palette? Here is a great one!
What I like about this palette:
The colors are neutral. Great for every day wear, however, you can also ramp it up a notch if you’d like.
There’s a ton of eye looks you can create with only 5 colors.
And like all of Bobbi Brown’s products, amazing.
What I don’t like about this palette:
The price. Duh. But I bought it as a part of the set I listed above. You can also click here to purchase it.
